OBJECTIVES

Haptic Stress Test To perform a Tensile and Compression test, a material specimen is gripped in the machine jaws and pushed or compressed by moving the grips apart at a constant rate, measuring simultaneously the load and the grip deformation up to reach the material stress strength, the stress at which a material breaks or permanently deforms. The evolution of the material under test and the measurement of the Ultimate Stress Point (maximum stress that a material can withstand) and the specimen Maximum Elongation are both fundamental together with the reduction in the specimen area to determining other material properties like Young Modulus, Poisson ratio, Yield strength and strain-hardening.

The objective of this Virtual Tensile and Compression Testing Machine is to make the user familiar with this type of material tests so relevant for Material Sciences.
